This course is focused on sharing the findings from your teaching-as-research (TAR) project with a broader audience in the form of published scholarship. This 5-part, self-paced online course guides participants through pitching your work, finding academic journals and other outlets to publish in, knowing your audience, and how publication can support your academic career goals. By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Determine the best publishing outlet for your teaching-as-research project
  • Start a plan to get you to publication

Audience & registration

This course is designed first and foremost for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers who have completed teaching-as-research projects, but generally relevant to anyone interested in publishing about their teaching. Course access is limited to participants at CIRTL member institutions, or alumni of CIRTL programs. When registering, you will be asked to confirm your current institution and your alumni status in order to confirm your eligibility for this course. Registration coming by Fall 2025.

Course content includes written text and academic journal articles for additional optional readings. Student work includes structured personal reflection and submitting a final assignment incorporating what you’ve learned into real or imagined future teaching opportunities.
